UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie in currently in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she has been communicating with refugees who are trying to return home after years of exile.
In a new statement, the actress, 35, is speaking out in support of those fleeing the turbulent nation of Libya, as well as those in Africa’s Cote d’Ivoire.
"We don’t want to look back and find their deaths on our hands," Jolie said. "As we witness these newest crises unfold in west and north Africa, it is critical that all parties respect the fundamental right of people in danger to flee to safety. All I’m asking is that civilians be protected, and not targeted or harmed."
The Touristactress is urging for international support of those in need, in hopes to get some of the chaos in these nations under control.
"We need to remember that if we don’t support these people in the long term to really get back on their feet, we will see a continued cycle of instability and new crises," she said.
Jolie continues to amaze, as the mom of six never seems to take a break. When she’s not filming or promoting a new flick, Brad Pitt‘s superwoman continues to try and make the world a better place.

Justin Bieber turns 17 on March 1, and he’s revealing what his plans are for the big day.
“I only have, like, four days, so I’m just going to relax, because I start my world tour starting on [March 4] — so just going to mentally prepare and just relax,” Justin told “Entertainment Tonight.” “No birthday bash. … Hopefully my grandparents will be out here and I’ll be able to spend time, a little bit, with them. My grandma makes the best cheesecake — cherry cheesecake. She made that for my 13th birthday.”
Of course, Bieber’s birthday isn’t the only thing making headlines these days. His new haircut has also been causing quite the hoopla, but Bieber seems to be brushing it off. “I just wanted to [cut my hair], that’s all. Not really a big reason; I just woke up and said, ‘I don’t want this anymore,’ so I just cut it,” he said. “It’s not really about that. You know, the fans really liked it, but they’ll like me no matter what, because I think it’s about the music. I’m really excited to see what the fans overseas think and take it day by day.”
Bieber will re-release his 3-D flick “Never Say Never” this weekend. “It’s 40 minutes of extra footage, so it’s basically like a new movie,” he says. “It’s real exciting, because it shows me and my friends more and it shows a different part of the concert, so it’s going to be great. Hopefully all the fans will go back and watch it.”
Next week, in addition to his birthday, Bieber will also kick off his European tour. “I’m excited to see what [Willow Smith] brings to the table,” he said. “We start on March 4, so she’s really excited, and she told me that she can’t wait — and she’s adorable — so I can’t wait.
“I have such great people around me and such good family,” he added. “I just want to be a good role model to people, and to be able to just make good music. … I’m going to make mistakes, but it’s about learning from them and becoming better. … My movie shows that anything is possible and dreams do come true. … Remember to always stay humble and always be gracious and anything can happen.”

Russell Brand, Willow Smith, Jonah Hill are just a few stars looking to revamp film and TV classics like ‘Arthur’, ‘Annie’ and ’21 Jump Street.’

What do Willow Smith and Beyoncé have in common with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Kenny Wormald? They’re all starring (or in talks to star) in the latest round of remakes of beloved films and TV shows coming down the pike.
On Thursday, news broke that Beyoncé would be starring in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the 1976 Barbra Streisand classic “A Star Is Born” (which was a remake of a 1954 movie that remade a 1937 film). In the meantime, Will Smith is reportedly petitioning Sony to remake “Annie” (the 1982 movie and 1977 musical) starring his 10-year-old daughter, Willow, best known for whipping her hair.
In October it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and best bud Tobey Maguire would be starring in Baz Luhrmann’s 3-D retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Great Gatsby,” with Carey Mulligan joining as Daisy Buchanan.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have been working on bringing the ’80s Johnny Depp-starring television series “21 Jump Street” to the big screen since 2008, and they might even get Depp to cameo in it in time for the film’s March 16, 2012, release date.
And let’s not forget the long hunt for a Ren McCormack (the character Kevin Bacon made famous in 1984), after Zac Efron and Chace Crawford dropped out of the planned “Footloose” remake that finally landed dancer Kenny Wormald the role of his life.
Then there’s “Arthur,” the Russell Brand-starring remake of the 1981 screwball comedy about a happily drunk millionaire who risks everything for love. The film has tapped everyone from Helen Mirren to Greta Gerwig and Nick Nolte.
Two recently announced remakes are “Lethal Weapon” and “The Wizard of Oz,” which are still in early development and without stars attached. Warner Bros. announced their plans to reboot the Mel Gibson-starring franchise on Thursday and tapped writer Will Beall to pen the script with completely new characters. And director Robert Zemeckis announced back in November that he planned on remaking the 1939 Technicolor classic using the script from the original film, with Warner Bros. hoping Robert Downey Jr. will play Oz.
Just this past year, films from “Clash of the Titans” to “The Karate Kid” to “A Nightmare on Elm Street” were remade for the big screen and were well-received by audiences. “Alice in Wonderland” and “Clash of the Titans” went on to become two of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010, while “Piranha 3D” and “The A-Team” also went on to strong successes, proving that there definitely is a market for these kinds of remakes.

He’s already taken the community college world by storm, and now Donald Glover is looking to conquer the mtvU Woodie Awards as the show’s first-ever host.
Glover, best known for his portrayal of a college student on NBC’s “Community,” has just been tapped to serve as master of ceremonies for the seventh-annual Woodies, which will air live on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU on Wednesday, March 16, at midnight, from the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
Glover seems the perfect man for the job. After all, the Woodies are the only awards show where the winners are determined by college students, and Glover is definitely psyched about the opportunity.
“I’m really excited to be hosting the Woodies, (insert joke about award sounding like a penis),” he wrote in a statement.
Glover is just the latest name to be announced for the 2011 Woodies, joining a list of performers — Wiz Khalifa, Odd Future, Sleigh Bells and more — and nominees (a list that includes everyone from Kanye West and Yelawolf to Mumford & Sons and the Arcade Fire) that showcase not only the Woodies’ eclectic tastes, but those of its viewers, too.
Eminem protégé Skylar Grey, Lupe Fiasco, Matt and Kim and “My Life as Liz” star Liz Lee have also been announced as presenters on the show. More performers and presenters will be added in the coming days.
The 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards will air live on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU on Wednesday, March 16, at midnight (ET/PT) from the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. For more information — and to vote for the winner of the “Breaking Woodie” award — check out Woodies.MTV.com.
